The National Arts Council was established in April, 1997 through an act of parliament (Act no. 56 of 1997). The vision of the NAC is to promote, through the arts, the free expression of South Africa’s cultures. The NAC is a national agency mandated by the Department of Arts and Culture, with the responsibility of developing South Africa’s creative industry by awarding grants to individuals and organisations in the arts.
Project / Campaign: Annual Report and Annual Performance Plan
Write and design comprehensive annual reports and annual performance plans, which serve the important function of providing valuable information to stakeholders, detail the direction to be taken and the planned targets for the year while still using design elements that show off the nature of the council – creativity. Especially because the NAC is a hub whose main objective is to provide, and encourage the provision of, opportunities for persons to practice the arts.
The Brief and Task
Conceptualise, write and design the NAC’s annual reports and annual performance plans to enable the National Art Council to present fundamental information on the council’s mission, vision, history and summarise achievements of the financial year. With the chief purpose of the report and performance plan being to enlighten all stakeholders about how and where the council is moving, mirrored against its vision and strategic plans, and detail the council’s targets for the year and how it plans to reach those milestones.
Producing annual reports and performance plans with accurate information; publications which speak to the direction the NAC is taking to remain relevant and competitive, considering the fast-changing arts, culture and heritage (ACH) landscape the council and artists now operate in.
